Please use these guidelines when considering whether
to submit a volunteer request for your event.

Request Guidelines
Single Volunteers Boston
(SVB) is not your ordinary volunteer group. In addition to providing nonprofits
with hard-working volunteers, SVB also tries to provide volunteers with
opportunities to work closely with other Single Volunteers. We therefore
have the following guidelines that must be met before we can accept volunteer
requests.
Organizations
must request a minimum of 10 SVB volunteers for each project. (Please
estimate your volunteer needs accurately. SVB has a low rate of volunteer
cancellations so there is no need to overestimate.)
SVB Volunteers
must work together in groups of at least 3-4 people.
SVB Volunteers
are “one time” volunteers only. If organizations need volunteers
for multiple days, SVB can provide volunteers for each day but SVB will
not provide organizations with the same volunteers for each day.
SVB volunteers
can attend orientation sessions only if that orientation immediately
precedes the event.
Volunteer
projects should last between 3-5 hours. Organizations with longer event
should ask for shifts of volunteers instead of using one group all day
long.
Organizations
offering food, beverages, t-shirts or any other "perks" to
volunteers should let SVB know. Perks are not necessary (most events
do not have them), but signups tend to be better if we announce perks
when they are available.
All volunteer requests will be treated seriously and, whenever possible,
SVB will attempt to accommodate organizations’ requests. When
SVB is unable to accommodate requests due to scheduling constraints,
SVB will try to setup an alternate project/date.
