Single Volunteers Boston (SVB) is a 501 (c)(3) Non-Profit non-profit organization that connects singles who share a common interest in volunteerism. Our objective is to fulfill the volunteer needs of non-profit organizations in the Greater Boston Area while having fun and meeting people. SVB acts as a volunteer clearing house, providing nonprofit agencies with volunteers while providing volunteers with a convenient, fun and efficient way to volunteer. We are not a dating or matchmaking service.
The requirements to volunteer with Single Volunteers Boston are:
* You must be 18 years of age or older.
* You must affirm that you have read and understand the volunteer agreement in its entirety. See FAQ's
* You must be single (not married or in a committed relationship unless holding a leadership position). Please see our partners listing for a list of other nonprofit's if you are not eligible to participate with SVB. See FAQ's
* If you agree to participate in a project, you must arrive at the project site on time. Since you are making a commitment to SVB and our Nonprofit Partner to volunteer at the event, please try to give us 48 hours notice if you need to cancel. This gives us time to fill your volunteer slot.

SVB’s 6th Annual Summer Cookout
Sunday, August 22nd 12pm till 5pm
at Herter Park, Brighton
Short walk from Harvard Square Red Line T
Come out and spend a Sunday afternoon with you fellow SVB’ers for a cookout along the Charles River. We will have burgers and dogs and grills supplied and paper goods. Come out enjoy some good times, good food, music, volleyball. We will need help setting up, cooking, and cleaning up.
Items needed: cheese, spring water, soda, veggie
burgers, potato salad, fruit salad, other salads, potato chips, cookies/deserts
When you sign up please mention what you could bring we will let you know if it is still needed. A donation of $5 (pre-paid) or $7 at the cookout a person to help cover the cost of food, supplies, grill/gas.

Saturday's Bread

Saturday's Bread was founded upon the insight that, while there were food programs for people in need in Boston from Monday through Friday, few, if any, served meals on Saturday/Sunday. The goal was and is -- to fill this crucial gap. We will be helping cook/serve/setup for a meal during our shift.

Pine Street Inn Dinner Service (Red Line T, Broadway, plus short walk)

Volunteers will be helping serve dinner at Pine Street Inn. Pine Street Inn serves 450 men on a typical Saturday. There is parking available in their visitor lot for volunteers. Pine Street Inn is a non-profit organization committed to men and women and children in need of shelter, sustenance, and the basic moral and material supports necessary to lead a dignified and stable life.

Waltham Community Farm

Come spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon at the farm. Volunteers at the farm will be helping with general farm tasks such a weeding and harvesting crops. Half of their harvest gets donated to local food kitchens/banks in the Waltham/Cambridge/Belmont area.

WGBH August TV Pledge Drive

Sunday, August 29th 1pm till 5:30pm
Come spend a Sunday Afternoon helping WGBH Boston's PBS station. Training will be provided to volunteers. Volunteers will be taking phone pledges supporting WGBH throughout the evening broadcast. This is a great event for getting to know other volunteers while helping a good cause. You might even end up on TV! By volunteering at WGBH volunteers receive a free membership to WGBH ($60 value). Ollie Road Race

Free Food and Beer at Harpoon at the after race party.
Help the South Boston Neighborhood House this year with it annual fundraiser road race "Ollie Road Race". All volunteers will receive a long sleeve t-shirt for volunteering. After the race there will be plenty of FREE food and beer at the Harpoon Brewery. The race is sponsored by Harpoon Brewery. The event will be held at the Bank of America Pavilion located on Northern Ave in the South Boston waterfront. This is the last year the race at this location. Next year it will be smaller in scale.

Help at Festival that celebrates Fluff. Fluff was invented in Union Square. This event is sponsored by The Union Square Main Streets and Backb Roads. Volunteers will be helping with the Culinary Roulette is a gamewhere folks spin the wheel to win take a dare and win a prize. The wheel could spin to Fluff with a square of graham cracker. Or it could be a spoon of Fluff with some other less attractive combination -- last year people loved the Fluff with tuna fish, mustard and pickles.. who would have thought. Those who dare to spin the wheel of fate and to do the experiment by tasting the Fluff combo will win a prize of a Fluff sticker or magnet.
